How to pay with a QR code using Easypaisa, JazzCash or your bank app
Short answer: Open Easypaisa, JazzCash or your bank's app, tap scan or the Raast QR option, scan the merchant's code, check the amount and merchant name, and approve with your PIN. You shouldn't be charged a fee for paying a merchant this way.
Paying a QR code, step by step
- Open your app. Easypaisa, JazzCash or your bank's mobile app all work, as long as it supports Raast QR.
- Find the scanner. Look for "Scan", "Scan & Pay", "QR" or "Raast QR" on the home screen.
- Scan the code. Point your camera at the QR on the merchant's screen, receipt or message.
- Check the details. With a dynamic QR, the amount is already filled in. Make sure the amount and the merchant name are what you expect.
- Approve. Enter your PIN or use biometrics. The merchant is notified when the payment goes through.
If the merchant sends a payment link
Merchants often send a Link to Pay on WhatsApp, SMS or email instead of showing a code. Open it on your phone and you'll see the amount, the order reference and the QR. If you're on the same phone you'd pay from, save the QR image or take a screenshot, then use your app's "scan from gallery" option. If you have a second screen, simply scan it.
Will I be charged?
Under the State Bank of Pakistan's Raast P2M instructions, customers paying merchants should not be charged a fee. If an app shows an unexpected charge on a merchant payment, check the screen carefully before approving.
If something goes wrong
- "QR expired" or "no longer payable": dynamic codes expire. Ask the merchant for a new one.
- Money left your account but the merchant says it hasn't arrived: share the transaction ID from your app with the merchant. Most dynamic QR systems confirm automatically, so a delay is usually short.
- Wrong amount or unknown merchant name: don't approve. Contact the business through a channel you trust.
Stay safe
Only scan codes from businesses you're dealing with, never share your PIN or OTP, and remember that scanning a payment QR sends money. It never receives it. If someone asks you to scan a QR to "receive" a refund or prize, it's a scam. More in our QR payment safety guide.
Paying a Settlix merchant
Merchants using Qrix by Settlix show a dynamic QR with the amount already filled in. You don't need a new app or an account, and Settlix doesn't charge you to pay.
